1.string table differs from server: it reffers to the map, the server is usin a map that you don't have.
2.Class c problem: it has to be with the hamachi peer vpn alias problem

Is there a way to open a dedicate server coop mode, with the admin as a spec or is the director?
@caliFRAG: Those patches are optional, but it doesn't hurt to install them. It is just local graphical fixes and easier way to see your achievements.
@Daniel: Are you living in a country outside the USA? If so, then yes , you will always lag bad. Perhaps your internet connection is not the fastest either.

hey guys i have a problem i installed patch 1.0.1.3 the master patch 1.X.X.X to 1.0.1.3 and it ad 2 other files called mini fixex i think i thought "well if they are mini fixex i think it will just make the game better"so i downloaded them both put them on the correct places but it gives me this error "could not load library client"can someone tell me the cause of this error or anyway to fix it.thank you

Are we sure the mini patches are installed correctly? Re-apply the non-steam patch.
I have seen this error before many times, but I don't remember the cause of it. I want to say it is patch related, but it has been so long I cannot remember.

I have the same problem as lukw: I master patched L4D to v1.0.1.4 then I patched the non-steam v1.2. However, I can only join on games hosted by Friends (which I still have no clue how to add new friends) and every time I refresh to look for a server, I get a "connection has een lost" message. Advice please!

Hi there, I was wondering... why don't you use the freeware program ForcebindIp to let Windows know that the Hamachi-adapter is the one to work with the game?
That's what this program does. It forces any game to use the adapter/corresponding ip-address you fill in.
That's a whole lot easier than disabling your other internet adapter when hosting, starting game and then re-enable that internet adapter again.
Like to hear your reaction.

@Teiron, The reason for dropping the Hamachi is due to the fact that Garena has overcome Hamachi in the amount of players and servers available. Just use Garena since it is so much more user friendly. Perhaps if me and versatile get enough request's for a Hamachi Tutorial we will resurrect it from the grave. Vote in the poll on the home page for a hamachi tut.

I got a small problem, its about survival.
Whenever I try setting up a survival gamemode, then picking a map, whenever
someone joins my game/room it auto changes
to versus then coop.
Got any ideas how to solve this problem?
If not then its fine guess I can't host a survival game anymore xP

@SoberSoldier, This has been a very common problem with the new patch. If the snd_rebuildaudiocache doesn't help I suggest reinstalling the game from scratch if you still have your original torrent copy,(save your stats file in c:Left4dead,if not grab my copy of skullptura's fullrip(10min dwnld) on the updates/patches page then repatch. That's what I did and now my sound works great.

I need some help.
Well i downloaded left 4 dead and the media files was completely seperated from rom the rest of the game so when i manually input the sound files into the media folder it doesn't work.
I'm not sure if i placed it right though. Can someone post a screen shot of their media folder?
Or give me an all raedy media file?

Every time I am playing Left4dead I can't ping anybody in console. I reinstalled the game 3 times all ready.All patches are up to date. When join a game it says that I am idle. My game works fine offline though. I have 1.0.1.4 and standalone 1.19a.

Hi,
I've got the latest Patch for L4D (1040) & I've installed the non-steam patch 1.20 RC2. & whenever I try to start the game using Garena it says the following message:-
Can't find background image 'materials/console/background1.vtf'
Also, I'm having some sound problems with the game after I installed the patch, for eg. some sounds like the rain sound comes as a weird, loud, irritating noise & the only way I've found to stop it is to go to Options>Audio & change the Speaker Configuration to anything else & then the sound stops, also, at regular intervals there is the same noise comming for about 1-2 seconds & then it stops. Another problem is that when I installed two custom Campains in the left4dead/addons folder, they don't show up in the campains or in the addon campains. Srry if u think I'm being irritating or something.

@Whycan'tIplay, it sounds like your missing some files in your copy of l4d. Are you using the skullptura rip of the game? I would suggest deleting the game entirely except your stats.bin in the root folder, then grab a fresh copy of the game from our patch/update page up top. It only takes 10min to dwnld if you use firefox addon downthemall. Then just repatch that copy and you'll be fine. I had this problem before so that's why I put that copy up their for times like this. Good Luck and respond back if you have anymore troubles.

I installed the patches & still it's the same problem. Only one problem got solved, when I played a campain & quitted or finished it, the Main Menu would turn up full destorted.

I did some extensive research & found the answer. FOR ANYYONE WHO HAS MY PROB. PAY ATTENTION (see 5 posts above this one) all u have to do is, start L4D then open the Console (using ` , left of 1 on the top row of ur keyboard, don't forget to enable it under the Keyboard/Mouse Menu) & type 'snd_rebuildaudiocache' & wait until it finishes & voila, now no more sound (hissing sound) problem.

I have never seen that before but this is from Steams Forum
"In a bold effort to curtail the use of exploitive custom game content, Valve instituted the "sv_pure" cvar.
This server side cvar allows all custom content (sv_pure 0) , limited and defined custom content (sv_pure 1) suitable for public play or no custom content (sv_pure 2 ) for league competitions."

Two problems I'm having.
1. Fire and being out in the open produce nothing but a loud piercing static that I don't know how to fix.
2. I can't seem to run single player games anymore, only games on Garena.
Would either of these problems be related to the 1.0.1.4 standalone patch I had to implement for Garena? How can I fix these problems without needing to uninstall?

Hey .

I don't even have a Steam Folder.

It's such a hassle trying to download Skullptura from Megaupload.
Whenever i close firefox or Shutdown my PC. it restarts again!

@SteamFolder, when you patch your game to version 1014 it creates an addon folder in your Left4dead/left4dead directory. Don't look for it through steam just search your files in your Left4dead file location and place the vpk into the first addons folder. Simple as that. Without steam just forget about the steam directory's before the game.
@Yenrock, pretty stupid question you have there. after you select regular download from megaupload a pop up box will appear to ask you how to handle downloading the file,select downthemall or dta one click, do not select save file or it will take alot longer. If you don't know how to download files properly then your a tool.

When i start the game it loads all the opening videos, but when it should go to the menu i get this error (twice, after i close the first one i get the same one again):

@jefjef,I know that multiplayer works with this version both coop and vs. I do know that this current 1015 patch is not the official patch so there's bound to be a few bugs, just wait for the official 1015 patch and all those bugs should be corrected.

@Andrei, I just used the patch and it works fine for me, just make sure when the box appears for you to install it to a folder, select your main l4d folder(the first one) and it should work. Also select save file, since dta and downthemall won't work.

@MK, the friends list for garena is now located in the game menus. Click Play Campaign, then play on steam group and you'll see the people you have tunneled in garena. Also with the new patch not alot of people will have it right away so not that many servers will be up. Give it a few days and soon everyone will be on v1015.

My question is about the newest patch 1.0.1.5. Is the patch complete...? I mean, I noticed that Bill never speaks. Everyone's got new lines except for Bill. Is this supposed to be this way or is the patch missing audio files? Another thing, why can the game be paused...? And, is the same Crash Course map used for Coop and Versus? Thanks in advance.

@Swatunknown, make sure you enable the map in the game menu extras, addons. check off that map then join.
@jerpami, if your using the 1015 the friends list is now located in the play campaign/ play on Steam Friends Group now, it's still there just in the menus now.

I have a problem with joining servers using Garena.
When I try to join servers in L4D after getting into room in Garena and launching the game, then I get "STEAM validation failed."
I use Steam version of L4D, is there any way to don't download the standalone version to play online?

@Yukeming, the latest patch is the 1015R4 which is 364mb's in size. If your new to l4d on garena though I suggest using the 1014 patch and one of the older standalones since most players on garena aren't using the 1015 and so theres not that many servers running on 1015 right now.
@Jeremy, if you have the steam copy just play on steam if you don't want to play on steam you need to install a non steam standalone patch found in the patches page of this guide. Then if you want to go back to steam servers just uninstall the standalone patch in your l4d files by selecting uninstall. Simple as that.

I think ya' should add a tutorial on how to install maps from .vkp files, because they often doesn't work if you have the NON-STEAM version *wink wink*
I found that the tool: gcfscape175.exe
was able to extract .vkp files so you can do it manually.

1. Where i can fin the apropiate version of the survival pack?
2. When i rebuild soundcache, stuck at the end of process (the progress bar is full but the screen continue in "loading"
3. How i can change the language to spanish?

Hi guys I have the same problem as paul:
The procedure entry point GetthreadedLoadLibraryFunc could not be located in the dynamic link library tier0.dll
And
Failed to load the launcher DLL:
The specified procedure could not be found.
I think these errors might have something to do with each other? I double click left4dead2 from main folder, Doesn't even try to go into game it just shows them. Please help me. A.S.A.P.

[FIXED/SOLVED] This also solves:
Failed to load the launcher DLL:
The specified procedure could not be found.
First goto system(or wherever you have tier0.dll) and drag it onto the desktop, Run a play!
Here is my error:
I run steam and launch l4d2 and then it says no permission to run "left4dead2" and then it closes if I do none steam says need steam to run! PLEASE HELP.

But recently, I have been having these errors which consist of:
